Seven Core Convictions Mennonites Share.
Visitors sometimes ask about the center of our faith. This series of flyers illustrates Seven Core Convictions Mennonites Share. Click below to see the full statement of each conviction. Here is an introduction to the set:
These seven core convictions of faith were adopted at the 2003 Mennonite World Conference (MWC) assembly in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. MWC includes some 1.2 million Anabaptist Christians from all parts of the globe. Mennonite Church USA is a member of this world-wide body. In these convictions we draw inspiration from 16th century Anabaptists, who modeled a
radical discipleship to Jesus Christ. Walking in his name, by the power of the Holy Spirit, we confidently await Christ’s return and the final fulfillment of God’s kingdom.
1)God is known to us as Father, Son and Holy Spirit…
2)Jesus is the son of God who showed in his life and teaching how to be faithful…
3)The church is a community of those whom God’s Spirit calls…
4)The faith community under Holy Spirit guidance…
5)The faith community gathers regularly to worship…
6)The Spirit of Jesus empowers us to trust God in all areas of life...
7)We seek to live in the world without conforming to the powers of evil…
